PYRAMID LAKE FISH REPORT | Scott O.

PYRAMID LAKE FISH REPORT | Scott O.

Today’s Date: March 5, 2023

I had 8 hookups with two landed, three got off right at the ladder and three shook me off. Weather was tough and some guys we talked to had been there for several days without a bite. All fish were caught stripping streamers. The indicator fishing was almost nil.

We tried every leech in the box and nothing.  We saw one fished hooked on a midge, otherwise everything was on streamers.  Nothing on leech patterns or midges.

We stripped them on a 350 grain sink tip line.  Let the line sink all the way to the bottom before beginning your strip.  We used a moderate to slow strip.  The popcorn beetle was the top fly.

    WORKING FLIES:
    Boobies (details below):
    —- Chartreuse & white
    —- Black & Red.
—- Black eyes with the black wings and white eyes with white wings
    —- Long bodies/tail
    Popcorn Beetles.

    • Nothing on leech patterns or midges.
    • Very high winds last night and this morning. 35 MPH sustained with 50 MPH gusts.
    • Never got above 40 degrees the whole trip.
