STATUS OF THE CLUB
Message from Conejo Valley Fly Fishers’ 2022 President Gary Scott:
The Board members have decided to disband the formal club as you have known it and to reform as a grass roots social club that will meet quarterly for potluck sessions to discuss flyfishing.
That means:
- We will not run with a $7000-$8000 dollar/year budget.
- We will not be paying for professional speakers monthly.
- We will not carry insurance for such events.
- We will not pay for social media advertisements and brochures.
- We will not publish monthly newsletters.
- We will not cover costs associated with Trout in the Classroom.
- We will not have annual fund-raising auctions.
- And we will not require yearly dues which do not cover our annual operating costs.
- We will continue this year as was planned. (Added: then formally “close the club”).
Should you wish to attend or participate in other local flyfishing clubs such as Sespe (located in Ventura) or Sierra Pacific (located in the Valley), they would welcome you and your participation. They are part of the Consortium and have a great year of professional speakers lined up for each month’s presentations.
As your parting President, know that it has been an honor and privilege to serve you this past year. I hope you have gained as much as I have received in the past from Conejo Valley Flyfishers.
Fish On!
Gary Scott CVFF President
